Happy Retirement to Stu Allen

Join us in bidding a heartfelt farewell and happy retirement to Stu Allen, our dedicated bylaw enforcement officer at the City of Duncan's parking and traffic enforcement division. For 14 years, Stu has not only diligently upheld regulations but also embraced his role as an opportunity to connect with the community he serves. Hailing from Nova Scotia, he made the island his home in 1993 and brought with him a wealth of life experiences, including a stint in the army and years in the printing industry. Stu's commitment to exceptional service was recognized in 2014 when he was nominated for the Black Tie Awards in the customer service category. Always one to spread smiles, he's been known to carry dog treats during his rounds. As he enters this new chapter, we celebrate his accomplishments and eagerly anticipate his well-deserved days of fly fishing ahead. Congratulations, Stu!

Discover the Vision: DDBIA Member Study Report on Station Street Common Placemaking Project is Here!
We're pleased to share a significant update regarding the Station Street Common Placemaking Project—a space close to our hearts at the corner of Station and Craig.
The City of Duncan initiated this project in early 2020, enlisting an architecture planning and design firm to collaborate with stakeholders and propose design concepts for the further enhancement of 85 Station Street, recognized as Station Street Common. The DDBIA has been closely engaged in this process, and we're excited to unveil our comprehensive Member Study Report. This report captures insights, preferences, and aspirations of our vibrant community—YOU. Your participation and input have been invaluable in shaping the vision for this cherished public space.
Dive into the details! You can now read the complete Member Study Report on our website. Click the link below to access it and learn about the key findings, recommendations, and the collective spirit that fuels Station Street Common's transformation. The DDBIA will continue to attend planning meetings for the project. Executive Director, Katherine Devine, will present the study findings to Mayor and Council at the next Council meeting on September 5th. All are welcome to attend.
The City also has an engagement page available, you can find it here: https://bigconversations.duncan.ca/stationstreet
