A Multitude of Festivities Unite Downtown Duncan on July 14th and 15th



Duncan, British Columbia: Get ready for an unforgettable couple of days in downtown Duncan as the community gears up to celebrate a multitude of exciting events on July 14thh and 15th. From the highly anticipated Duncan Days festivities to the renowned 39 Days of July, the heart of the city will be abuzz with energy and entertainment.

 

Downtown Duncan's vibrant Craig Street will undergo a captivating transformation on July 14th as it will be closed to vehicle traffic, paving the way for a lively and bustling sidewalk sale event. This annual sidewalk sale extravaganza sees merchants from all corners of the downtown core spill out onto the sidewalks, offering an array of enticing sales and experiences. Stroll along the pedestrian-friendly street, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere, and explore the diverse range of shops and boutiques. It's an opportunity not to be missed, as the heart of Duncan comes alive with the energy and excitement of this much-anticipated sidewalk sale event.  Shops stay open to 8:00 pm!  And don’t forget to stay downtown for dinner!

 

On the 15th, the popular Duncan Farmer's Market will be in full swing, showcasing a wide array of local produce and locally made goods. Adding to the excitement, the Elks Lodge on Kenneth Street will be commemorating a remarkable milestone of 100 years with a spectacular celebration featuring a sizzling BBQ, a lively beer garden, and foot tapping live music.

 

As part of the Duncan Day festivities, the downtown Duncan core will be transformed into a vibrant street party, offering a myriad of attractions for families. Visitors can enjoy face painting for $1 per face, be amazed by balloon twisters, and cool off in our Cooling Station. On Craig Street, numerous vendors will gather, offering a diverse range of products and information. A special mention goes to the Red Balloon toy shop, which has organized engaging activities such as life-size chess and crossbow demonstrations, as well as providing sidewalk chalk for young artists.

Now let’s talk motorcycles!  The Helmet Head Show and Shine, presented by Helmet Head Canada, will rev up the excitement on Station Street. At 11 am, up to 100 motorcycles will roar down the street, captivating spectators with their power and presence. Following the ride, a Show and Shine competition will take place, featuring four categories: Cruiser, Sport, Custom Bikes, and Best in Show. Attendees are encouraged to bring new toys or gift certificates for a toy drive, benefiting children aged from babies to teenagers. The Irons Works Cafe and Creperie will serve as the collection site for these generous contributions.

 

Take a walk down Jubilee to Fresh Kenny’s “Halloween in July” cornhole tourney.  Join a team and throw down on the street side courts in front of the restaurant between 10:00 am and 9:00 pm on Saturday, July 15th.  Get ready for a round robin and true double knock out action.  And don’t forget to wear your best scary and crazy Halloween costume.  There will be lots of food and adult drink fun on Jubilee all day and night long! 

 

The annual Duncan Days Grande Parade presented by the Duncan Cowichan Festival Society is a highly anticipated event that will take place on the Saturday, starting at 10 am from the Cowichan Community Centre. Embracing the vibrant theme of Carnival, the parade promises to be a mesmerizing spectacle that will captivate both young and old.

 

Duncan Day is a true celebration of community and family. The festivities on July 14th and 15th promise to create lasting memories and strengthen the bonds within our unique downtown community. Don't miss out on this vibrant day of excitement, entertainment, and community spirit.
